Circa 1835 Nashville, Tennessee Maker: John M. Smith 3 1/4” height 3” rim dia
$2,800
This only the second handleless TN. cup I have owned. Likely had a few hundred KY. examples. Always wondered why this form not so popular in TN. as KY. This seamed example with unusual folded over top rim creating a 45 degree overhang. Base similarly styled though about twice the depth of the top. Probably dates circa 1835 and almost certainly made at his Nashville shop. Not a retailed example produced elsewhere. Condition is very good with a period script monogram which might read WNPL sited slightly lower than the usual position.
