These two Hudson River-style landscape paintings are of regional interest: one a romantic mountain scene and the other a view across a wide river with city skyline, possibly Louisville, Kentucky (a view from the perspective of a dam on the Ohio looking toward Louisville).
Both oil paintings are in good, as-found condition. Apparently never cleaned, both might benefit from a gentle cleaning and tightening of the stretchers.
Paintings are housed in their original, silver leaf (with the appearance of gold) frames bearing the label, J. V. Escott and Son, Manufacturers of Frames and Looking Glasses, 66 Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky, offering insight to the view possibly being a Louisville landscape. The skyline and topography of this painting are certainly consistent with the city in the mid 19th century.
