In autumn of 1913, soon after migrating from Kentucky to Brooklyn, Sawyier is dealt a brisk day aside the East River to debut his talent. Sadly, the optimistic theme of this composition is uncharacteristic within Sawyier’s oeuvre. For the following two years local parks and water fronts become his studio. The time-space component of this brief stay, perhaps the most productive of his career, aligns with the mastery of his craft. Excellent original condition of painting and frame.
