Milton, Ky. is the post office address for the Hubbard’s home at Payne Hollow where nearby this scene was likely recorded. Unlike the rest of the paintings from this Caddell/Hubbard trove this work was acquired from Jim Alspaugh. A copy of the 1981 letter from the Hubbard’s to Jim Alspaugh is among the support images. Evidently Caddell later acquired the work unlike the bequest to him from Harlan. Excellent as painted condition in the artist’s repurposed dressed wood frame.
