George II Silver mounted tea caddy now converted to a letter carrier crafted with a fine Moroccan red leather partitioned insert. Exterior case in an unusually fine state of presentation. Well executed silver mounts including feet and top plate of lock. Interior ceiling and sides of hinged upper case covered with original red velvet. The skin coating with no loss or repair. The only repair observed is a single barrel of a five barrel hinge showing work, and an oversize screw helping secure a foot. Tooling of leather , feet, and contours of case equally attended to on back as the front. Interior holds a release note, from Gary Young at the 1-2-93 Winter Antiques Show held in New York City, allowing the caddy to leave the floor.
