Lucas lives at Haywood in Eastern Kentucky. The four oils depict family gardening for the table. Lucas did a series of oils in the late 197os & early 1980s depicting scenes of the immediate area where he lived. Coal mining had ceased in the early 1950s where his father worked as a miner. His grandfather was a union boss.
Soon after this period of paintings Lucas becomes much edgier, reflecting changing forces in area life. Excellent condition now framed to 8 3/4″ x 10 3/4″.
