A thoughtful architectural removal. Mahogany two board laminate employing three board construction then carved and painted. Laminate tight as are the glue joins of the boards. Paint cracks at several isolated locations where joined otherwise generally as made with minor loss. Wood breaks (with out exterior loss) away from the lions can be observed in images. Both could use a bath. See images for affected areas of paint separation. Likely dates within the second half of the 19th century or early in the 20th. Paint appears old and mostly intact over the primary gilded surface. Original surface of silver leaf which had a toning varnish applied so to appear as gold. Ex Tom Dellach.
