These tongs with an engraved cornucopia spewing a foliated vine along the handles are marked Beard along with an eagle, each in separate cartouche. Only a few Kentucky makers engraved flatware aside from lettering, and among those who did, little is found. A period monogram reads ME with a third initial probably being a T, S, or J. These tongs are in good condition but bent on either side. They are scheduled for straightening by a competent metal-smith and will presumably be considered fine condition when returned.
