This handled cup bears the incised mark of James I. Lemon of Louisville, Kentucky and the cartouche stamp declaring Pure Silver Coin. The attractive, classically scrolled handle has a raised serpentine-molded outer surface. Harriet E. Gardner is engraved in what appears to be period script. Quite possibly the beaker was made by this silversmith and jeweler during the decade of the 1840s. The cup has great surface with a few shallow dings.
